Powerless

Powerless
A few days ago we started working on this quick write. We had to watch this video which was called powerless. It was about a fairy that was stuck under the log and the other fairy had to save her. Here is my version of the story.

I had to find a plan. I needed to help my friend under this log- heavy stumpy and rough. I thought and thought while trying to lift the log. It hardly moved. I felt like I knew something, helpful and important, for this situation. Just then I knew. Fairy land was talking about it. It was the new robot. I could be the robot.

Without telling my friend I shot through the woods into the inventor's house. It was old, rickety and unstable looking. I didn't care though so I shot through the window. The inventor was sleeping. He snored like a growling bear. I tried to ignore it. I fluttered around the funnel looking entrance.

The robot had a funny looking body but that didn’t stop me from going inside the robot. I lifted the squeaky funnel looking tunnel. Then “SQUEAK… SLAM” Oh no the inventor woke up I tried to run away as the robot as fast as I could but the fastest I could go was a slow walking speed. I walked around trying to get the hang of it.

Just out of nowhere I found a lantern. I took it of course because it was very dark. I walked to my friend. I knew the inventor was following me, but I just kept walking. After walking for a few minutes I saw my friend- weak helpless but still determined to get out. I was green and she was red. So she noticed me because the robot had green eyes. I pulled the log as hard as my body could possibly pull. After a while I realised the inventor was pulling to. My friend was free.

I escaped the robot body and flyed away with my friend. While I was flying away I saw the inventor devastated that the robot didn't actually work. So me and my friend put some magic on the robot to make it work. We watched the robot go back to the cabin. I couldn't wait to tell my other fairy friends.

Market Day

Market Day

Finally the day has come! Market day was here. I was so exciting. First Amber and I set up the table to put on the product. Then I added the balloon to the table to attract a little more attention. After that we placed down the money box and placed a few chocolates. Our product sold out super fast. Amber and I took places while the other one went to go look for some food.  This was us selling our chocolates.

Crushed Delights

Crushed Delights
Today me and Amber created a poster. We had to put in a few things like our logo, the product name and the price. Bella Wright's mum came in to tell us a little bit about advertising. We started out with a really plain and boring ad, then changed it to a colourful and bold but not too busy poster. It was very fun even though we had a few mistakes and had to print our posters over again. Anyway here is what Amber and my poster looks like.

Here Is Me & Amber Presenting Our Chocolates
So for this terms inquiry we had to work and create a product. The first week we had to create an idea of what we wanted to make. We decided on making Crushed Delights because Amber (the partner I am working with) got a chocolate mould and making kit for her birthday. So she invited me to work with her. Me and Amber had to decided what flavour we wanted to make it. From lots of thinking, I thought of putting candy canes in it. Me and Amber agreed on it and so we decided to use candy canes in it too.
So in that week we made the chocolates and severed them to a few people.

My Strawberry Poster

My Strawberry Poster

This week we were learning about strawberries. We went to Scott's strawberry farm. Billy or Mr Scott told us a lot of things. Then at school we had to make something to express our learning. I made a poster and a model. I typed all of my writing and then cut them out. The reason I did that was to get a good font and make it very neat. I also got some pictures and facts. Here is what the poster looks like.

Persuasive Pizza

Persuasive Pizza

A few days ago we were learning about persuasive advertisements. We had to make a pizza or draw a pizza. Then we had to make a creative and persuasive ad for the pizza. We decided to make a voki for it. Here is my voki

Zentangle Calendar Art

Zentangle Calendar Art

A few weeks ago we have been working on zentangle. Zentangle is when you do random patterns on any section of a of art. We had to do animals. Lots of people did cats, dolphins, owls, elephants, horses and much more but I did a fox. It kind of looks like a wolf but I don't really mind what ever. We kind of started of making and creating a bunch of patterns. We learn't quite a few that was very useful. We also didn't use colour, we just used black and white
Here are some examples of zentangle animals.

Geometric Patterns

Geometric Patterns

This week our maths was to make a geometric pattern with just diagonal lines. It was hard because I had never made a geometric pattern before. My drawing is a 6 sided star. I had to measured 60 degrees in each side. It has a hexagon in the middle and a bunch of triangles surrounding it. I didn't make my shape too complex because it was my first time making a geometric pattern and I didn't really get the hang of it.
Here is what my pattern looks like.

My Inquiry Question

This week the teacher let us pick a topic abut food technology. I picked honey. The teacher also found out a website called voki. It is a website where you create your own character, and you can make it speak what ever you want it to. We had to make it say our inquiry questions. Here is my voki.

My Flower Garden

My Flower Garden

This week we were focusing on making a flower garden, since our inquiry is about food and gardening.
We had to go to this website call Yates. Yates sell seeds and gardening items. We learned how to properly read the back of the seed packet. After we found out what flower, herb or vegetables we wanted to plant, we  planned how to plant our crop. I decided I would plant flowers. This is what my planning looks like.

My Egg Easter

Easter The Egg
Last Tuesday Room 2 became egg parents. Most of us made a house or a little bed for our egg. We we not allowed to boil the eggs. We had to carry the egg where ever we went. If we didn't we would had to arrange a babysitter for the egg. My egg survived for the whole week and is still surviving. Sadly lots of people cracked there egg. Your teacher said we had to make a diary for our egg so here is my egg diary. Hope you like it.

My Starry Night

My Starry Night Art Work

A few days ago room 2 looked at Vincent van Gogh's art work. The one that we really liked was "Starry Night" one of his more popular paintings. Room 2 and I decided to remake our own versions of the Starry Night. We had to do small brush strokes for the whole painting. After we finished we stuck some of our houses we made earlier. We stuck them on our mountain. Here is what my Starry Night Painting looks like.

Quick Write

The Belly Flop

A few days ago we started doing our quick write. Our quick write had to include detailed words, short sharp sentences and complex sentences. We had to made a story by looking at a picture. This is the picture that I was talking about. Here is my story hope you like it.
ManuelToribio-THE%20FLIGHT[1].jpg
I was dared to jump off this wharf. Why did I agree to actually do this dare? I hesitated. The squeaky unstable wooden floor didn't help. My heart was racing faster than any car. My body was shaking almost vibrating like an engine. I was terrified. I wished good luck to myself hoping I wouldn't regret this.
Here goes nothing I thought. I pushed off the wharf almost like a frog. The dive was flat. I knew I was going to do a belly flop so I spread my legs and arms so I didn't look awkward. I felt like I was flying for a split second. The gravity pushed me down.
The splash was so big it looked like a tiny geyser. I fell. SLAP. The fresh water was very refreshing. The cold water was floating under my pants. As I was out of breath, I swam up. I had a sore stomach but it was all so worth it.

Foul Shot

Foul Shot

For our writing we have been writing about foul shot. We had to make it a limited amount of writing and had to do only 2 stanzas. You had to write about something that was at least 10 seconds long. Like shooting a ball over a net, scoring a goal or like landing something.

The ball comes closer and closer to me

Crouching with the racket on my hand
Leaning side to side
On the base line,
Tightening my grip,
Breathing heavily,
Trying to play it cool,
Glaring at the ball,
Wobble,
Tremble,
Quiver,
Running up to the ball
Wishing it would go over the net

Smack,
It was a weak shot,
                                   and then
                                                     and then
                                                                        and then
Just as I thought it wasn't going to go over the net,
YES ITS IN

To The Unknown Solider

For ANZAC day I have wrote a letter to the soldier that never came back home. I am telling the soldiers how them risking there life to war helped us.

Dear Soldier That Never Can Back Home

As I'm writing this letter to you, I am sitting in my cosy classroom. We are safe, warm, and happy. Sadly you were quite the opposite. I want you to know that you are not forgotten.

How did you feel when you went to war? My class heard that a lot of you thought it was going to be a big mysterious adventure. How did you feel when you realised you were actually going to Egypt not France or England? You must have been miserable in the hot dry desert at Egypt.

How did you feel when you first put your uniform on? Was it a thrilling experience? We found out that some soldiers would tear off some parts of their uniform, because it was way too hot. Did you do that too? I can not imagine holding around a heavy bag that is nearly 30kgs.

What did you feel when you were given your food? Was some of the food disgusting? Have you ever run out of food and had to eat rats, mice and other rodents? Did you feel sick? I found out that ginger-nut  cookies were more often eaten in the war than ANZAC biscuits. Did you suffer, and was hungry very often?

Thank you for fighting in the war. I will always remember
 you.
Sincerely Jiwon

My Anzac Biscuits

My Anzac Biscuits

This is my Anzac Biscuit Blog post and you will see how to make Anzac Biscuits, the history behind anzac day and a really good recipe. I hope you like my post.
In World War 1 and 2 they ate food like canned food, jam, stew and also very dry biscuits. The mothers, wives and girlfriends were very concerned about the nutritional value supplied to there men. The food had to be able to be in a boat with out any refrigerating facilities for 2 months so, a lady came up with the answer. She used a basis Scottish recipe that was made out of rolled oats and was able to be eaten in the period of time while it was in the ship. The biscuit was named ANZAC BISCUITS after the landing on Gallipoli.

Anzac Biscuit Recipe:        Interesting Facts About Anzac

100g Butter                                Anzac Soldiers were all volunteers
3 tbsp Golden Syrup
1/4 cup Boiling Water       11,000 people were killed and 23,500 were wounded
1 1/2 tsp Baking soda
100g Flour                There is no town called Gallipoli, it is the name of the area
150 Sugar
100g Rolled Oats
75g Desiccated Coconut

Method

Image result for anzac biscuitsPreheat the oven to 180ºC. Gently heat the butter and golden syrup in a small saucepan until the butter melts. Pour the boiling water into a cup and dissolve the soda. Mix the flour, sugar, rolled oats and coconut together in a large bowl. Add the soda and water to the saucepan of hot butter and syrup and immediately pour the foaming mixture into the dry ingredients. Mix thoroughly. Cover two baking trays with baking paper, or wipe with butter and dust with flour. Place heaped teaspoonfuls of the mixture on the prepared trays, leaving room for spreading. Bake at 180ºC for 15-20 minutes until the biscuits have melted flat and baked to a rich brown. Remove from the oven and leave the biscuits to harden for a few minutes before lifting with a spatula. Place in a single layer on a rack to finish cooling. The recipe makes around 36

Mountain Valley Camp 2014

Mountain Valley Camp

When we had to leave the river.
This year we went to Mountain Valley Camp and we went rafting and how to set up a tent and lots of stuff. The food was very delicious and we could make our own. One of my favourite was taking a break and went down to a river and had a big swim. Here are some photos.
